Leicester and Leicestershire firmly on the business map of Europe

The City of Leicester and the Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership Ltd. (LLEP) have been recognised in the fDi European Cities and Regions of the Future 2020/21. The awards, published by the Financial Times, highlight the work done by cities and their investment organisations to improve their economies and business environments.

Leicester has been recognised as one of the top-ten mid-sized cities in Europe for connectivity. Investment in our transport systems, in superfast broadband and skills training, has equipped Leicester with the tools it needs to succeed in an ever-more connected world.

Leicester was recognised alongside major European cities including The Hague, Zurich, Liverpool and Dortmund. Inclusion on this list confirms that Leicester is a global city, upwardly mobile, outward-facing and ready for more investment from businesses in Europe and around the world. Leicester’s exemplary connectivity means that any business wishing to invest in or move to the city will find world-class networks ready to support their ambitions for growth and prosperity.

The LLEP has been included as one of the top-ten UK Enterprise Partnerships for Human Capital and Lifestyle. The Organisation’s relentless drive to promote the region’s workforce, and to improve the offer for businesses looking to invest in Leicester and Leicestershire, no doubt had a positive impact on the awarding body. With more than one million working-age adults within a 45-minute drive of the region, businesses can be certain that there is a hugely talented skills pool to draw from when setting up shop in the Leicester and Leicestershire area.
