Eloic Montagnier, a talented hotelier originally from France, has been appointed as General Manager of The Gresham Aparthotel, Leicester.
Mr Montagnier, who moved to the UK in 1996, has an extensive background within the hotel industry including a stint as General Manager at Leicester’s Belmont Hotel between 2014 and 2019.
Eloic joins the operation on 1st June. He said,
“I’m delighted to be taking on the role of General Manager of The Gresham Aparthotel. It’s an exciting new challenge and a brilliant opportunity to be involved in a completely new venture, in a great city that I know well.
“I am looking forward to being able to help shape the operation from the start. The Gresham is an iconic, ‘stand out’ building and will have a unique positioning in the Leicester hotel market to match. I think it will make an important contribution to the city as well as the future regeneration of the area.”
A recruitment process to appoint more staff for the aparthotel will begin in the Summer with an estimated 25 new positions anticipated at the aparthotel. Since work started at the beginning of 2020, The Gresham has made a valuable contribution to the local employment scene.
Around 100 construction staff and contractors from 18 limited companies have been working at the site throughout the pandemic – around 90 per cent of whom have been local to the area. This has included suppliers for steel, roofing and architecture to decorating, scaffolding and building supplies, extending even further across the supply chain.
Developer, Aimrok Holdings has gone to great lengths to try and employ locally, keeping the Leicester community at the heart of the £17 million redevelopment.
Snizhana Yesaulenko, director at Aimrok Holdings and Managing Director of principal contractor, Cube Construction said:
“Employing local people has been an important factor to us. We are proud to have been able to give our construction workers continued employment throughout the pandemic, whilst ensuring it remains a safe place to work. We have found that it has built a sense of loyalty and community spirit within our teams, and our labourers have wanted to stick with us.
“As the development of The Gresham progresses we are keen for this ethos to continue and we are thrilled to have appointed Eloic as the General Manager. He has considerable industry experience and critically, within Leicester and we are very much looking forward to him starting in June.”
The stunning 133-bed aparthotel comprises 1 and 2 bed serviced apartments complemented by a lobby bar and restaurant, a high-end fitness suite, four prime commercial units and 12,000 square feet of state-of-the-art Grade A office accommodation. It is due to open in Autumn 2021.
