Crown House Technologies (CHt) welcomed over 50 attendees to its supply chain event, as part of the new prison at Glen Parva social values initiative to employ local businesses to support the CHt supply chain in their project delivery during 2022.
The event which, held at Blaby Council chambers, was arranged and hosted by CHt Project Director Ian Neville, with guest speakers from Lendlease, the contractor, Rita Patel Miller – Social Value Lead for Midlands, Alan Birchmore – MEP Lead, John Richardson – Strategic Director Blaby district council, Les Phillimore – Local District Councillor and Region Chair of the FSB and Peter Allen from the Business Gateway Growth Hub.
CHt Project Director Ian Neville was delighted with how the day went and said:
“Out of the 50 attendees, 30 of those were local and were situated within 50 miles of the new Glen Parva Prison. We engaged in great conversations on the day and were able to capture new relationships to secure local employment places for January 2022 and beyond. The local businesses covered Electrical Contractors, mechanical contractors, Graphic providers / printers, small mechanical and electrical wholesales, Leicester College, FA & CCTV small businesses, labour suppliers, wellbeing consultants and insulation contractors.
“This successful event now paves the road to support our goal of 25% local spend and local jobs within the workforce. I would also like to thank the guest speakers and Blaby Council for hosting the venue.”
Sonia Baigent, Chair the the Business Gateway growth hub board, said:
“We were pleased to promote and support this event as the growth hub is a free resource for all businesses across Leicester and Leicestershire to take advantage of. Our role includes connecting businesses to local opportunities and this supplier event is a great example of how local businesses can benefit by gaining business from local construction projects.”
