Kevin Harris, Chair of the LLEP Board of Directors, has featured as part of the BBC East Midlands Today (30 April) news programme, talking about PPE donations and supply across Leicester and Leicestershire.

The news feature covered the ppe4nhs campaign that encourages businesses across Leicester and Leicestershire to donate spare PPE, not only ensuring donations reach the NHS but also for key frontline staff in health care, social care and community support.
Nearly 5,000 items have been generously donated to date. Businesses based in the Hinckley area make up 50% of those donating so far.
The LLEP is working in partnership with Leicestershire County Council and the Local Resilience Forum (LRF) to support the supply of PPE locally, with the LRF leading the distribution of PPE to key workers.
There is currently no shortage of PPE across Leicester and Leicestershire but, as Coronavirus will be with us for a while, the campaign is about maintaining the supply and distributing PPE to where it is needed most.
Businesses that have new and unused PPE sitting in store cupboards are encouraged to donate what they can spare, including:
- Fluid resistant masks
- Nitrile gloves
- Visors or goggles
- Disposable aprons or overalls
- Hand sanitiser
There are drop off points in the city and across the whole of Leicestershire to make donating as easy as possible and reduce distances travelled.

In addition, Leicestershire County Council is inviting local businesses who can make or supply PPE to contact them directly. They have set up a PPE expression of interest form on their website.
