LLEP releases new labour market film resource for education

The LLEP Skills Team has released a new video resource for use in careers education. The World of Work is a video and interactive quiz that can be used by schools, colleges and other advisers who support young people into work, training or further education.

Building on our World of Work labour market information (LMI) guide, we have produced a short film that can be used as a resource in the classroom. The aim is to support young people and teachers to understand what labour market information is and what can affect it, and give overview of local sectors. There are also employability tips, routes into work, and a quiz activity that can be used alongside the video.

We were very grateful to have the expertise of a local leading recruitment agency Macildowie on board for the production of the video. James Taylor, Chief Executive of Macildowie conveyed his insight and expertise in the film. He said:

It is crucial to support our future workforce to know more about local industries, and offer the insight that working for years in recruitment can support with – how young people can research local businesses and tips on securing a position, even in challenging times. I would encourage other employers to get involved with schools and colleges.”

This is the first of a series of short films, linked to sectors and featuring local employers, that are in production by the LLEP skills team and the LLEP Careers and Enterprise Company team, to be fully released in 2021.

The films will have complimentary presentations and lesson plans, and will to give schools, colleges and wider stakeholders who support skills a set of local resources that can be used to embed sector and labour market information teaching to young people.
