We were very grateful to have the expertise of a local leading recruitment agency Macildowie on board for the production of the video. James Taylor, Chief Executive of Macildowie conveyed his insight and expertise in the film. He said:
“I was delighted to support with input and employability advice for the World of Work film. It is crucial to support our future workforce to know more about local industries, and offer the insight that working for years in recruitment can support with – how young people can research local businesses and tips on securing a position, even in challenging times. I would encourage other employers to get involved with schools and colleges.”
Anna Cyhan, LLEP Skills Officer, said:
“I was very pleased that James agreed to be part of this important area of work. Increased links between local businesses and education can help young people with careers decisions by raising awareness of sectors and opportunities across Leicester and Leicestershire, and this new set of resources will help to embed activities to convey information about the labour market.’’
This is the first of a series of short films, linked to sectors and featuring local employers, that are in production by the LLEP skills team and the LLEP Careers and Enterprise Company team, to be fully released in 2021.
The films will have complimentary presentations and lesson plans, and will to give schools, colleges and wider stakeholders who support skills a set of local resources that can be used to embed sector and labour market information teaching to young people. All of these resources – including this first one – will be avialable on our Resources for Education Professionals page.
If you run a business and would like to get involved with careers education, our Enterprise Adviser Network is recruiting!
