The LLEP has issued the following statement from Kevin Harris, Chair of the LLEP board of Directors, in response to the ongoing Covid-19 crisis.
The Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership Limited (LLEP) recognises that our region is experiencing unprecedented disruption as a result of Covid-19.
Across our whole city and county, the footfall to our high streets has depleted, events have been cancelled and venues and tourist attractions have had to close. We are very much a micro-business economy that is feeling the huge effects of this crisis and it is impacting all sectors.
Leicester and Leicestershire are renowned for its community spirit. I am sure we will hear great examples of this as everyone pulls together and supports each other by working together throughout the coming months.
We welcome the Government’s commitment to do whatever it takes to protect business and jobs through the package of financial measures and business support announced in the Government daily updates.
We are actively working with our national, regional, and local partners to ensure our businesses have access to all the information and guidance required. We continue to work with local authorities who will be at the front line of distributing the financial aid package of grants and rate relief needed for our businesses.
The LLEP is actively working through our Business Gateway Growth Hub by setting up a dedicated section to provide the latest information on Covid-19 for businesses. Our immediate focus is to signpost businesses to the right business support and application processes.
It is taking time to gain clarity on all the support available and how to access it. This is a fast-changing situation and not all support is immediately available on the day it is announced.
